Artist Statement Project #1
My glitch project is all about exploring fashion through time and how it is always evolving, changing, and repeating. I started by gathering images from my favorite editorial shoots, Vogue's archives dating back to the 1900s, and the remaining images from Pinterest. For my infinite loop, I gathered Vogue covers and spreads from the 1900s-2020s and laid them all out so that, as the loop went further out, the dates would be more modern. Then I took editorials from Grace Coddingtons Creative Direction and put them in TextEdit. Every time I made a noticeable glitch, I would save it; that way, I could make the progression of the glitch into GIF form in Photoshop. I took the remaining few images and began to glitch them out in Photoshop. I changed the colors, filters, shifted pixels, and added noise to the images. Then I also converted them into GIFs. Overall, I was very happy with how my project turned out, and I think it visually represents how fashion is always glitching, changing, and making history.
